What's Up Balloon to the Rescue

What a way to start the new year. I guess there's nowhere to go ... but UP!

This episode ends up discussing sensitive topics like Bill Cosby and other sexual assault allegations. Just a fair warning if you don't want to have to deal with that. The episode isn't good enough to try if you don't want to hear about it.

Also we acknowledge that no one has been criminally convicted, the charges discussed are alleged and we are merely stating our individual opinions.

Now doesn't this all sound fun?

Gummibär The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa

We're almost out of the woods this Christmas and the final obstacle is Gummibär (Gummy Bear, but with an umlaut, get it?) The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa.

The box is full of false claims, but at least it's upfront about its hideous star and the fact that aliens appear in this 'film'.

The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus

The endless Christmas begins again on the Cartoon Lampoon Podcast. The 8th or 9th or 10th Christmas we've celebrated in the 4 years we've been doing it. Gotta be close to the 5th Rankin/Bass movie we've done, maybe the 4th Santa Origin Story.

Can you believe we haven't even made a dent in Animated Christmas Specials yet?!

Doogal

This has gotta be the worst thing that Harvey Weinstein's ever done right? Without checking the news of the past couple months or paying attention to anything any female celebrity has ever said, or just looking at Harvey Weinstein, I'm going to assume this is the worst thing he's ever done.

Let me just Google him to make sure I'm spelling his name right.

...

Oh.

Well, I'll just check on Louis C.K. while I've got Google open.

...

Oh.

This is gonna take a while.

Delgo aka Ferngully 4

The lowest grossing computer animated film of all time finally makes it to the Cartoon Lampoon Podcast.

If only it was notable in any other conceivable way.

What a mess.

Scooby-Doo! Shaggy's Showdown/ Season Finale

We take a nice easy stroll through one of the newest Scooby-Doo! movies to end our 3rd Season and do an end of season recap of some of the best and worst movies of the year.

We also chit-chat about a few other Halloween specials you can look forward to/dread this year, and also a surprising amount of Star Trek talk.

Where the Dead Go to Die

This movie is tactless and easily the worst thing we've ever seen. I know we say that a lot but this time we mean it. We didn't even get halfway through it before just skipping to the end credits.

So to make up for the lack of movie discussion we have an animation career discussion about 47 minutes in to the episode. So skip to that if you don't want to hear about this Horror monstrosity.

Also I threw the DVD out. the end.

The Thief and the Cobbler

That's the image Wikipedia has as the main movie poster image. Its oddly cropped, it has a banner only on the top, and then an overly detailed background image that is bottom left justified for some reason.

Then Richard Williams picked one of his forty titles for the film, slapped it on there, put the Tiny Toon Adventures Logo in it, and left the rest a black void.

All it all its strange, jumbled, admittedly pretty in places, too busy at points, too spare in others, and honestly? Probably not finished.

In short its the most apt movie poster I've ever seen considering the movie its trying to sell.

We review Richard Williams, and somewhere in the cross hairs we manage to discuss The Thief and the Cobbler (and its many versions)

Apropos of nothing, here's a link to Double King if you haven't seen it.

Puss in Boots (1999)

I'm just gonna let you all know now, this episode should really be called 'Basics of Animation' and 'History of Flash' because we talk about that a Hell of a lot more than we talk about the movie itself.

One of the worst things we've seen on the show if not truly the very bottom of what animation as an art form has to offer.

Hats off to Phil Nibbelink though, he's a talented animator who has had a hand in making some of our favorite movies throughout the 80s and 90s.

This, however, was, to put it nicely, outside of his wheelhouse. Every single one of his wheelhouses in fact.

Titanic: The Legend Goes On

Welp. It's Party Time.

I'm not sure anything more than that needs to be said about this infamously bad, tone-deaf animated flop. Which, if nothing else, serves to remind us which side of WW2 Italy was on.

The Treasure Planet

Don't let that image fool you. This film is something else.

A nightmarish Hellscape to be specific; from the far off land of Bulgaria made in 1982. Which is JUST in time to create doubts about where Disney got their idea for a space themed Treasure Island. But which one comes out on top? Who's to say?

We are!

The Flight Before Christmas

This movie is 90 percent less Christmasy than that image would have you believe.  There is no Santa Helpers, only half a minute of Santa, no candy canes, no Christmas lights, no gingerbread cottage. There's plenty of gross CGI animation though.

or uh

Warning! Sexually Explicit Content in this episode. Seriously, if you think the word cum is Latin, skip this one.

Otherwise we take on another Christmas movie for our impressive collection of holiday trash. And even though we consume this garbage multiple times a year, we aren't even close to putting a dent in our options, that's how much of this crap there is.

The King and I

An unbelievably outdated (that means racist) cartoon from waaaaaay too recent years. Request month continues with one of the worst things we've ever seen.

I'm not gonna get too detailed with this one, other than it made us sick and we almost turned it off early...but if you want to see just how bad it is in less than 30 seconds... check out this clip that Seth thinks sums it up pretty well: Youtube

Once Upon A Forest

Well our vacation is over and we're right back into the drudgery of our daily routines. We are kicking off again with a slew of Audience Requests and at the front of the line is perhaps our most, or at least one of our most requested movies.

None of us can figure out why.

Really. There is nothing at all in this movie.

Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Well its shattering box office records so I guess that means it must be good! Looks like we all have a live action Enchanted Christmas to look forward to in a few years.

The Swan Princess

We tackle a Disney knockoff before the latest self-inflicted Disney knockoff (Beauty and the Beast) hits theaters.

The film that sparked the entire podcast finally worms its way into the lineup, with... pretty harmless results, honestly. At least for some.

Except for that Jean-Bob! John Cleese is a nightmare in this! A straight up movie killing nightmare!

Also I guess the title is 'the Swan princess' with just the one capital 'S' ... or maybe 'The Swan princess'

What a mess.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil

I like that Cheech and Chong get SO much more money than 95% of the rest of the cast. Including Patrick Warburton who doesn't even make it on the front of the poster.

Cheech and Chong are in the movie for 4 minutes. MAXIMUM. 'Cheech' Marin and Tommy Chong are also two individual people with full names, but the movie poster can't be bothered with that.

Jim Belushi is back in his 3rd movie with us...so that's great. That's way more Jim Belushi than I ever wanted in my life...but fine.

Ratchet & Clank

We take a look at one of last year's biggest animated disappointments: Ratchet and Clank. Disappointment in the sense that it didn't do well... not so much that anyone was expecting anything good out of a Playstation Video Game Movie.

Joining us on this episode is resident Markiplier look-alike, and malapropism enthusiast Adam Ford

So lets jump in and tear this super long cut scene that for some inexplicable reason actually made it into theaters apart.

Additionally I'm sorry about the cat noises SO MANY FUCKING CAT NOISES!

Sing

Do you like being confused? Do you like being confused while listening to your broken iPod that's stuck on shuffle and it decides when the song starts and stops? Do you like doing all that while being overcharged for popcorn? Well then have I got the movie for you.

Also... if you're gonna give your movie a title...make it something Googleable. Might as well call it Track 01 Unknown Artist if you're gonna call it 'Sing'

I gotta type buzzwords in the description just to hope I get hits, like: Animation Comedy Music Animals Cartoon.
